Forum Maintenance

in Forum, Noodlescape

Edit Edit: If you registered on the forum back when it was running phpBB and cannot log in request a password reset via the “Forgot your password?” button under the login form. Enter your username OR email and it will send you a link to reset your password.

Edit: Maintenance complete. You may now use the forum again. And no you won’t have to register again and yes the posts are still there. Prepare for cool things!

The forum will not be available for the next hour or so.

What am I doing this time?
Converting our phpBB installation to SMF. SMF is awesome. Although IPB is cooler. vBulletin is the best in my opinion. Perhaps we can discuss this some other time.

Yeah this may take some time. Please DO NOT go to the forum for the next hour or so. I update this post when the updates are complete.

I already have problems with the forum. I can’t log in with my normal username and password, then it asks me if I want a new password with the format:

username/e-mail

So I type in Swizchese/atomicwhiskey@gmail.com, and it says that the username doesn’t exist. Am I doing something wrong here?

I had the same problem.
Simply enter either your username OR your email to reset your password.

Never mind. If you want to change your password and it asks for you Username/email, it means either your username or your e-mail, not both.

And where exactly is the new topic or reply button? Sorry I can’t really find it.

Also you can’t view anyone’s profile because apparently you can’t just view anyone profile.

Your profile works for me…
http://forum.noodlescape.com/index.php?action=profile;u=53
at the top and bottom of all posts it says:
“Reply | Notify | Add poll | Send this topic | Print”
Hit reply.
Perhaps you don’t see the reply button and peoples profiles because you aren’t logged in?

And I do believe that the “New” messages are messed up. I mean something that was posted an hour ago isn’t marked new but everything else is.

no I’m logged in. Maybe because I’m a newbie?

I can’t see the reply either.

It means “new” as in “you haven’t read this yet”
That’s why the mark as read button (at the bottom) removes the “new” signs

Hmm I can see my own profile and the reply button on my non-admin account too…

Chris,
You are contradicting yourself. First you said SMF was bad and phpBB was better, and now you say SMF is better. What???

Reply

Noodles November 22, 2008 at 5:29 pm

phpBB is much customizable but I’m going to stick with SMF.
Why don’t you go install phpBB and then try to install a mod, you will then realize how cruel phpBB is.

Na, I was just asking. (What is the system for the comments? “Fyre Vortex” appears twice, somehow.)

It’s the WordPress default.
That’s because you entered:
Fyre Vortex
and
FyreVortex
one with a space and one without a space.
