Global MapleStory is a MMORPG developed by Nexon who also developed Mabinogi, Audition, Combat Arms, and Sugar Rush. Global MapleStory can only be played in North America (even though it’s “global”). There is another version of MapleStory available to Asia (Maple Sea) but is only in Asian languages (Chinese, Korean, etc.) and not all players in Asia may understand them. This How-To will teach you how to play MapleGlobal in China
Things you’ll need:

Step 1:
Even if you do not yet have Maple Global still install HotSpot Shield first. Why? If you don’t and you try to go to http://maplestory.nexon.net it’ll tell you that Maple Global is only available in North America and will redirect you to Maple Sea.
So first go to:
http://anchorfree.com/downloads/hotspot-shield/
and download HotSpot Shield.
It is available for both Mac and Windows, for Linux I’m not sure.
After the download finishes run the installer.
Follow the instructions on screen and install HotSpot Shield.
After installation run HotSpot Shield.
If you are on Mac a small shield icon will appear in the menubar at the top of the screen.
If you are on Windows a small shield icon will appear in the task bar at the bottom of the screen.
On Mac: Click the shield and hit “connect”
On Windows: Right click the shield and hit “connect”
Done!
If you haven’t yet downloaded Maple Global move onto step 2.
If you already have Maple Global installed skip to step 3.
Step 2:
If you do not yet have Maple Global download it at:
http://maplestory.nexon.net
Note: To download Maple Global your HotSpot Shield first must be connected. If you do not yet have HotSpot Shield return to Step 1.
Run the install on your computer. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Once you have GMS continue to step 3.
Step 3:
Once you have Global MapleStory and HotSpot Shield downloaded and installed on your computer open HotSpot Shield and connect. After connecting HotSpot Shield go to:
http://maplestory.nexon.net
and register an account you can play.
After you register an account leave your HotSpot Shield connected.
Run Maple Global. If you have not yet downloaded Maple Global return to step 2.
Remember Global MapleStory is the same as Maple Global, they both refer to the same game.
You should now be able to login and play as if you were in one of Maple Global’s supported countries.
If you are on slower internet connection there may be some lag.
If you are on an decent internet connection there won’t be any normal lag but there will be “item lag”.
If you are on a fast internet connection you should experience no lag!

I’ve played it b4. It gets hard to level after a while and all the quests are like “Kill 100 of this.”
Maple Sea is in English for Singapore.
Hot Spot Shield really doesn’t work too well (with Maple Story) with any internet connection. If you want to play badly, be prepared because most of the time it’ll lag up and freeze the comp before going to the login screen itself.

There’s only item lag…
I tried with the hotspot but it’s not working. I connected it, but then after it connects for a couple of seconds, it goes to another website. I can’t play maple global.
I got the hotspot thing, but I still can’t play maplestory.

You may still use freegate 6.97, however the freegate download links are all locked, so you must get it by a friend’s USB/hard disk/some sort of data storage
